Counseling Services

Trauma Informed Counseling In Person and Online for Women in Texas

Trauma-informed counseling is an approach to therapy that recognizes the widespread impact of trauma and prioritizes safety, trust, and empowerment in the therapeutic relationship. It’s not a specific technique, but a framework that guides how a counselor understands, responds to, and supports a client who has experienced trauma—whether from a single event or a series of relational, developmental, or systemic experiences.

Watershed Wellness can help you with a wide range of issues including:

  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
  • Complex trauma
  • Anxiety and hypervigilance
  • Childhood sexual abuse
  • Family of origin stress
  • Overcoming people pleasing
  • Medical trauma
  • Emotional abuse or neglect
  • Reconnecting with your faith after trauma
  • Developing healthy boundaries
  • Relationship or work stress
  • Challenges of motherhood
  • Grief and loss

I tailor therapy to your unique needs using evidence-based and integrative methods, including:

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
  • Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for PTSD
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Mindfulness-based strategies

Together, we’ll explore your emotional patterns, past experiences, and survival strategies—supporting your growth toward a more grounded, connected, and empowered future.

Trauma Modalities

Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy that helps people heal from trauma and distressing life events. Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR uses bilateral stimulation (often eye movements, tapping, or sounds) to help the brain process and release memories that feel “stuck.”

Trauma can cause the brain to store memories in a way that keeps us reliving them — emotionally, physically, and mentally. EMDR helps reprocess those memories so they lose their emotional charge, allowing you to move forward without being held back by the past.

Many people find relief from symptoms of PTSD, anxiety, negative self-beliefs, and emotional overwhelm after EMDR treatment.

Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD

Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) is a specialized, evidence-based treatment for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and trauma-related symptoms. It helps you understand how trauma has affected the way you think about yourself, others, and the world — and how those thoughts might be keeping you stuck in pain, fear, or shame.

In CPT, we work together to gently explore your beliefs and thought patterns that developed after trauma. You’ll learn skills to challenge unhelpful thoughts, gain new perspective, and begin to loosen the grip trauma has on your daily life.

If trauma has led you to believe things like “I’m not safe,” “I can’t trust anyone,” or “It was my fault,” CPT can help you rewrite those narratives with truth, self-compassion, and clarity.
